All About Keeping Up With Your Dental Health During the COVID Pandemic

In the quest of saving ourselves from COVID-19, maintaining good oral health might not be on the top of everyone's mind. But if you neglect it, then it might lead to more serious complications. Though it might not be possible for you to visit your dentist like you used to do it before, you can maintain good oral health by regularly brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing them, and gargling your mouth. 

Apart from the methods mentioned above, here are some of the tips that you can follow to keep your dental health intact. 

Washing Your Hands

Every day, in your busy schedule, you meet many people, and subconsciously, your hands will be exposed to the places and things you might not even notice. So, always wash your hands for at least 20 seconds as guided by the World Health Organization (WHO) and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Using a good sanitizer also makes you proactive in fighting against the COVID-19 virus.

Well Balanced Diet 

It is normal to have cravings for eating more without maintaining a proper diet when you spend a lot of time at your house during the lockdown. By doing this, you are allowing your teeth and gums to get exposed to a lot of substances that might be bad for them. Make sure you only consume those eatables which are good for your oral health. 

Avoid Sugar Drinks 

Consuming soda, fruit juice, and other liquids that contain sugar is harmful to your teeth as they contain starch. This substance has the potential to develop bacteria and cause cavities in your teeth, which can result in the extraction of the tooth in extreme conditions. By making sure that you limit the sugar-containing drinks, you can avoid potential damage to your oral health. 

Drink Plenty of Water 

Water is the safest liquid to consume, provided it is not contaminated. Drinking plenty of water makes sure that it flosses the food remains that are stuck in your teeth. So drink as much water as possible. Besides that, drinking the right quantity of water every day also ensures that your digestive system is in good condition.
