Keeping Up With Your Dental Health During the COVID-19 Pandemic

During this pandemic, when everyone is trying to be safe from the Novel Coronavirus pandemic, dental health might not be the area you are currently focusing on. But it is advised by many dentists to take good care of the tooth by regularly brushing your tooth at least twice a day and floss at least once. This will help prevent tooth decay and also control the plaque.

Many dentists are also advising to opt for an electric brush as it has given some amazing results when it comes to maintaining hygiene, which is the most essential in today’s time when it’s not possible to visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Apart from brushing and flossing the teeth, it is also recommended to rinse the mouth with an antiseptic mouthwash as it helps curb the inflammation of the gums due to plaque build-up.

Maintaining a good diet is also essential as frequent intake of snacks increases the chances of cavities, consumption of soda and whine can be harmful to the tooth surface as it can stain the surface of the tooth. The simple and best home remedy to devoid the oral health issue is to drink plenty of water between the meals and after the meals as it will wash out all the residues present in the mouth.

Avoiding smoking this pandemic season as it is proven that people who smoke are more prone to getting infected with the virus. It also enhances the activity of bacterial growth in the mouth. This happens majorly because of the inadequate supply of blood to the mouth because of smoking.

It is also important to give extra care to the toothbrush you use by disinfecting, especially if you suspect the presence of a virus at your house. The transmission of the virus via toothbrush is more as they are sensitive. Always keep the toothbrush and other equipment covered, and it’s even better if you soak them in the mixture of mouthwash and hydrogen peroxide as it will keep them safe.
